Summary of key findings for parents

The provision meets requirements Staff demonstrate a good understanding of how to help children develop the skills they need to successfully progress through school. They have a strong knowledge of the sorts of activities and experiences that encourage children to communicate, develop independence, take turns and explore. Staff understand the importance of following children’s interests and ideas to engage and motivate them. The manager has a good awareness of the safeguarding and welfare requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She has a good knowledge of the procedures and policies in place that effectively promote children’s health, safety and well-being. Staff demonstrate a good understanding of how to effectively risk assess the environment and minimize any risks to children. Staff have a good knowledge of how to promote children’s health by providing nutritious food and daily opportunities for outdoor play. They understand how to positively manage children’s behaviour. Staff demonstrate a good understanding of how to promote children’s personal, social and emotional development. The manager understands how to work in partnership with parents and schools to meet children’s individual care and learning needs. She demonstrates how she seeks the views of parents, children and staff to evaluate the club and drive forward ongoing improvements. The manager understands her responsibilities to supervise and monitor the work of her staff. There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration. Inspection activities The inspector and manager toured the areas of the premises where childcare is to be provided. The inspector and the manager discussed and looked at toys, books, resources and equipment that she intends to use. The inspector discussed with the manager how she plans to help children to develop the skills they need to enable them to learn effectively and successfully progress through school. The inspector looked at policies and documents the manager will use when caring for children and discussed self-evaluation and improvement plans. The inspector checked evidence of suitability and the training of all childcare staff.
