Summary of key findings for parents
The provision is good • The well-qualified manager and staff team have worked exceptionally hard to raise the quality of the nursery since the last inspection. They have addressed the actions raised and enhanced many other aspects of their practice. A well-targeted programme of continuous professional development has made a significant contribution to improving the quality of teaching and learning. • Staff have a secure understanding of the current and future learning needs of the children in their care. They make effective use of observations to accurately assess what children know and can do. They plan a wide range of interesting and challenging activities to help children move on to the next stage in their learning. Children are confident and motivated learners and make good progress. • The key-person system is well established and effective. Staff are extremely caring and sensitive and provide babies and children with a homely, nurturing environment. Children make close relationships with staff and strong friendships with each other. They demonstrate good levels of emotional security. • Partnerships with other early years providers and schools are strong. This helps to promote good consistency for children and they are well supported when they eventually move on to school. It is not yet outstanding because: • The manager has recently introduced more effective ways to support parents to help children’s learning at home. However, this is still in its infancy and not yet fully embedded in practice. • The manager has not yet fully established the process for monitoring different groups of children to address any weaknesses and help to close the achievement gap for vulnerable groups of children.
