Summary of key findings for parents
The provision is good • The trustees and management team are committed to the continued development of the nursery. Their plan for improvement is successful. They make ongoing and positive changes to the running of the nursery and to learning experiences for children. • Staff provide high-quality support for those children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. They offer an inclusive provision and work closely with other professionals to meet children’s needs. Children progress well from their starting points. • Staff who work in the ’Tots’ room offer children consistently high levels of challenge throughout the day. Staff follow children’s interests, question them effectively and hold discussions with children about what they do. This enhances children’s learning. • Staff implement positive strategies to manage children’s behaviour. They praise children often and help them to understand the impact of their positive behaviour on others. • Young children in the baby room develop secure bonds with staff. They are settled and familiar with routines. Staff talk to the children and respond to their needs. Some children show advanced communication skills for their age. It is not yet outstanding because: • At times, in the pre-school room, some children’s enthusiasm and motivation to learn wane during periods when they wait to move between indoor and outdoor activities. • Staff do not have a wide range of opportunities to reflect on the effectiveness of their practice, to help them identify how to achieve even higher-quality teaching skills.
