Summary of key findings for parents
This provision is good The staff team is well-qualified. The manager is very supportive of staff’s professional development and several staff are working towards higher qualifications. This helps staff to extend their skills and improve outcomes for children. Staff demonstrate a clear understanding of the signs of abuse and what steps to take if they have a concern about a child. Staff follow nursery guidelines when administering medication. This contributes to children’s safety and welfare. Staff promote children’s personal and social skills well. They patiently and calmly encourage children to consider how certain behaviours may affect them. For example, staff discuss with children what might happen if they continue to crawl under chairs. Children’s transitions to school are supported well. Staff work closely with the children to ensure they are emotionally prepared for their eventual move to school. Children engage in activities to develop their self-care skills, such as changing into a physical education kit. Staff develop good relationships with the parents. They share information with parents about their child’s progress. Furthermore, staff offer ideas on the newsletter how parents can continue to support their child’s learning at home. It is not yet outstanding because: When working with a mixed age and ability group of children, some staff in the over-two’s room do not always adjust their teaching to help all children to achieve at the best possible level.
