With our easy to use, intuitive map you can browse any area at different zoom levels and see at a glance where schools are located.
Schools have different icons depending upon the age range of students. So, you can see immediately if a school is primary, secondary of both.
School icons are coloured according to their latest inspection rating. So, it is obvious which schools are outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate.
Hovering over a school shows its name and a catchment indicator, which provides a guide as to where you might need to live to get into the school (only available for schools in England).
We are a proud partner of Zoopla and with the click of a switch you can easily add properties to the map which are sourced live from Zoopla's database.
Different property icons allow you to tell at a glance if there is one or more property for sale or rent in a particular location.
Hovering over a property shows its address and price.
You can easily filter which properties are displayed; be it by price range, sale or rent and/or number of bedrooms.
Want to grab a bargain? You can even show only properties that have had price changes in a certain period, e.g. the last week. Something you can't do directly on the Zoopla site.
Using our school and property filters, you can change which schools and properties are displayed on the map, to help narrow down your search.
You can filter by the age range of the school as well as the gender of the pupils.
You can filter schools by their inspection rating and also by the exam performance of the pupils relative to other schools on the map; e.g. show only the top 5 performing schools in the visible area.
You can also filter schools based on other criteria such as their religion or whether they are grammar schools or not. Independent schools can also be switched on or off depending upon whether these are of interest to you.
Clicking on a school allows you to view summary information, including details of its latest inspection, exam results and parent's opinions taken directly from the official source of parent's opinions: Ofsted Parent View (which is used by Ofsted when making decisions about which schools to inspect and when).
A useful summary tab shows key information about each school, such as the number of pupils, gender, pupils per teacher, % free school meals, % English not first language etc. Along with at-a-glance-indicators which show the performance of the school based on the exams taken by its pupils and the inspections it has received.
We show the headline items from the latest Ofsted inspection including its summary findings, so you don't have to open the individual reports for each school.
The exam results tabs show the very latest results, including new Department of Education progress measures - designed to allow the comparison of pupil's progress and attainment across different schools. Beware other school guide sites that make no reference to the year their results are for; they are often years out of date and/or discontinued measures, e.g. GCSE grades are now numbers not letters.
Included are all the very latest headline exam results for schools at Key Stage 2 (Primary), Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level). We also include direct links to the Department of Education website so you can drill down further into these results.
The previous year's results are also displayed so you can make a year-on-year comparison.
As well as over 30,000 schools we are now showing over 28,000 nurseries and childcare providers in England.
We have parsed the latest Ofsted reports, so you can see the highlights at a glance. Including the providers full inspection history.
For nursery schools we also show Parent's Opinions from Ofsted ParentView; the official source of parent's opinion.
We show all childcare providers that are registered with Ofsted and not on domestic premises.
Discover what students do after leaving each school with our detailed leaver statistics, sourced from the Department of Education.
After their GCSEs, find out if pupils remain in education, and if so where, or whether they move on to employment or perhaps an apprenticeship.
After their A-Levels, discover how many pupils remain in education or move on to employment. For those that continue on to higher education, see how many attend top universities such as the Russell Group and Oxbridge.
Create a league table of local schools using the schools-in-view slide out.
You can sort schools by name, inspection rating, Key Stage 2 performance, GCSE performance, A-Level performance, value added (progress) scores for KS2, GCSE and A-Level and even fees for Independent schools.
Zoom in and out or scroll around to change the number of schools included in the league table.
Your shortlisted schools are highlighted with a heart.
Add schools and properties to your shortlists. You can then choose to view only your shortlisted items on the map and even compare them side by side.
Compare your shortlisted schools and properties side by side.
Save your shortlists or share them with friends using our simple URLS.
You can find out a host of information about properties for sale or rent.
The summary tab shows key information about each property; including the price, pictures and key features.
You can easily view the floorplan of each property.
View price changes of each property, a particularly useful feature for those looking to grab a bargain.
Request a viewing or contact the agent directly from our pop-up window with no need to leave the site.
Information specific to Independent schools is readily available.
Independent schools are often inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. We include links to all ISI reports, as well as inspections from all the other main inspection bodies.
Options for boarding are shown on the summary tab.
School fees can also be found on the summary tab.
A highly requested feature has always been to show public transport links, we're pleased to announce the first phase of this has now been completed.
Map markers now indicate the location of many thousands of railway stations and other forms of public transport; including underground stations, tram stops, metro and light railway stations. Our data covers the whole of Great Britain.
Often when researching school catchments people need to know how far they are ‘as the crow flies’ from a school. Our distance calculator tool makes such a measurement a doddle.
Simply right click on the map (or on a touch device press and hold) and a pin will appear to mark your location, you can drag the pin around or click elsewhere on the map to move it. Place this pin where you live (or intend to live) then if you hover over a school or station it will measure the distance between the pin and the destination.
It will also draw a dotted circle around the pin so you can easily see which other schools are within the same distance.
It's not always possible to get online, our printable schools report allows you to print out the details of all your shortlisted schools.
The schools report shows each school on its own page and includes all the key information that can be seen on the schools map. It also shows a map, highlighting where the school is located.
Where possible we've added handy links that allow easy navigation to external sites that provide useful information about the area in view.
Links to Ofsted Parent View; the official source of parent opinions. Parent View gives you the chance to tell Ofsted what you think about your child’s school, from the quality of teaching to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. Ofsted use the information provided when making decisions about which schools to inspect and when.
Links to the police crime site, allow you to see any recent crimes in the area you are considering.
Links to county council websites allow applications to be made for school places.
Links to socio-economic information allow you to find out a little bit more about an area.
We continually add new innovative features to help you make the most informed decisions possible.
